Melanin
Melanin is my gift, god gave me the earth. I shine gold when i dance outside, i sweat caramel and cinnamon. My ancestors are brown, black and cream. They ran in jungles and conjured spirits. My ancestors prayed in silent wars, wore beads and sang hymn's in foreign tongues to church makers. My ancestors made the mediterranean, they laid bricks and grew homes, slow cooked sauces with ruby red wine.
My ancestors are my colors, my bloodline is my memory, I am a design made from thousands of years, hundreds of faces, millions of acres…this is in continuum, coloring my eyes, my skin, my life.
